You probably have never heard of organic perfumes or have any idea why it matters. Well, let me tell you…
Consider where you apply your perfume. First, on your skin. Anything you put on your skin begins to be absorbed into your bloodstream in 9 minutes, and reaches full saturation within 90 minutes. Second, you’re typically going to apply it to your pulse points because the heat from veins so close to the surface of your skin warms the perfume and makes the most of it. This makes it extremely important that it not contain toxins.
Here’s what is in all commercially marketed perfumes:
- Synthetic fragrances that contain hormone (endocrine) disruptors that lead to a whole host of medical problems, including hormone imbalance, thyroid issues and cancer
- Synthetic fragrances kick allergic reactions into high gear for many people, leading to headaches, respiratory issues and other disorders.
Oh, and there’s more. Way back in 1986, the National Academy of Sciences recommended Congress test fragrances for neurotoxicity. Unfortunately we are still waiting on that study. However, other studies have been done. The EPA tested fragrances for chemicals in 1991 and found a list of the following toxic perfume chemical ingredients: acetone, benzaldehyde, benzyl acetate, benzyl alcohol, camphor, ethanol, ethyl acetate, limonene, linalool and methylene chloride – usually in some combination. According to InvisibleDisabilities.org, these chemicals can cause central nervous disorders, kidney damage, respiratory failure, ataxia and many less serious but still troubling symptoms such as GI tract irritation, dizziness, fatigue and more.
And if you think you’re blessing others around you with those fragrances, remember that many people suffer from sensitivities to synthetic fragrance. So you could actually be making life harder for them.
But we want to smell amazing, right? And we still can. Just not with store-bought perfumes. Instead, I have created 2 scent blends (more to come later) with all-natural essential oils that truly do smell amazing! There’s a citrus blend and a floral blend. I love them both and I know you will too.
Perfume ingredients: organic sweet almond oil, organic beeswax, organic *essential oils.
*The citrus blend contains lemon, lime, tangerine, orange and bergamot essential oils.
*The floral blend contains orange, patchouli, cedarwood, lavender, ylang ylang, and bergamot.
This product offers both varieties in an incredibly convenient lip balm tube. Perfume in a stick! This container makes application easy and inexpensive. It’s a win win!!
